Abstract:
Kebutuhan gizi untuk anak usia sekolah dasar sangat penting mengingat masa pertumbuhan fisik, kognitif, mental dan emosional sangat cepat. Melalui upaya perbaikan gizi dan kesehatan di sekolah yang dilaksanakan dalam bentuk usaha kesehatan sekolah (UKS) beberapa poin yang harus diperhatikan dalam pelaksanaannya yaitu pendidikan kesehatan mencakup peningkatan pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku hidup sehat. SEAMEO RECFON menggagas sebuah program bernama “Gizi untuk Prestasi” yang juga diperkenalkan ke negara-negara lain di wilayah Asia Tenggara dengan
nama “Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS)”. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi elemen unit sekolah dasar negeri di Kota Jambi dalam kelayakan mengikuti program NGTS SEAMEO-RECFON. Penelitian observasional menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain rapid survei. Populasi penelitian iadalah seluruh sekolah dasar Negeri di Kota Jambi tahun 2023, yaitu 208 unit sekolah. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 158 sekolah setelah sampel tereksklusi. Instrumen survei yang digunakan adalah Indikator Program Intervensi Gizi (Penilaian Kantin Sekolah) yang dikembangkan oleh SEAMEO-RECFON. dari empat pilar kesiapan kantin sekolah mengikuti program NGTS, sekolah dasar negeri di Kota Jambi sudah cukup siap dalam hal komitmen manajamen (77,8%) dan sumber daya manusia (60,1%), sedangkan elemen sarana prasarana kantin sekolah (55,1%) dan mutu pangan (56,3%) yang disediakan di kantin sekolah masih sangat rendah kualitasnya. Berdasarkan kesiapan syarat program NGTS dengan menjumlahkan seluruh elemen kesiapan kantin sekolah, hanya sebanyak 53,8% sekolah yang siap memenuhi syarat program untuk seluruh elemen. Sebagian besar sekolah dasar negeri di Kota Jambi layak mengikuti Program NGTS yang dicanangkan oleh SEAMEO-RECFON. Rekomendasi kepada pihak sekolah hendaknya lebih memperhatikan ketersediaan sarana prasarana dan mutu pangan bagi tersedianya pemenuhan gizi bagi anak usia sekolah dasar. Sedangkan kepada dinas pendidikan dan dinas kesehatan agar melakukan audit pengawasan terhadap jajanan sekolah, sanitasi sekolah, dan sarana prasarana sekolah secara berkala.
Nutritional needs for elementary school-age children are very important considering the very rapid physical,
cognitive, mental, and emotional growth period. Through efforts to improve nutrition and health in schools which are carried out in the form of school health efforts (UKS), several points must be considered in its implementation, namely health education includes increasing knowledge, attitudes, and healthy living behavior. SEAMEO RECFON initiated a program called "Nutrition for Achievement" which was also introduced to other countries in the Southeast Asia region under the name "Nutrition Goes to School (NGTS)". This research aims to identify the elements of public elementary school units in Jambi City for eligibility to participate in the NGTS SEAMEO-RECFON program. Observational research using a quantitative approach with a rapid survey design. The research population is all state elementary schools in Jambi City in 2023, namely 208 school units. The research sample was 158 schools after sample exclusion. The survey instrument used was the Nutrition Intervention Program Indicator (School Canteen Assessment) developed by SEAMEO-RECFON. Of the four pillars of school canteen readiness following the NGTS program, state elementary schools in Jambi City are quite ready in terms of management commitment (77.8%) and human resources (60.1%), while the school canteen infrastructure element (55 .1%) and the quality of food (56.3%) provided in school canteens are still very low quality. Based on the readiness requirements for the NGST program by adding up all elements of school canteen readiness, only 53.8% of schools are ready to fulfill the program requirements for all elements. Most public elementary schools in Jambi City are eligible to take part in the NGTS Program launched by SEAMEO-RECFON. Recommendations to schools should
pay more attention to the availability of infrastructure and food quality to provide adequate nutrition for elementary school-age children. Meanwhile, the education department and health department should carry out monitoring audits of school snacks, school sanitation, and school infrastructure regularly.
